Sunday Hike Turned Fossil Hunt.
On a very cool Sunday my partner, two of our friends, and I decided to go for a hike at Lake Oologa, OK. The weather was perfect for it, and perfect for lugging two medium format cameras and a tripod on a trail. I photographed with my Bronica ETRS and Yashica-Mat EM. It had been raining previously and had cleared up by the time we had gotten to the trail head, so everything was green and happy. As we made our way through the woods we took a path down to the waters edge. there was a tiny beach that was cover with little rocks brought in by the tide. As we climbed over a downed tree laying over the path I looked down and noticed a peculiar rock. After examining it and doing further research, it turned out to have a coral fossil on it! We quickly made our way down to the beach and while my partner and friends were dipping their feet in the water I was swept up in photographing and thumbing through the tiny rocks to find more fossils, everyone in the group found multiple fossils. After finishing up photographing I was determined to find as many fossils as I could. I ended up having to move everything in my fanny pack into my camera bag because I had filled it with rocks. After returning home after the wonderful day I photographed my favorites of the fossils I had found and will be posting a new addition to the “My Fossils” series, thank you for reading and stay tuned!
