A First for me in Bird Photography.

Whilst my partner and I were visiting her family down in Texas, we were swimming in a pool. I heard a call that I could only reason as a bird of prey. I quickly grabbed my phone and recorded the call, after some research I concluded that it was a Mississippi Kite.

I am as green as it gets when it comes to bird photography as of now, but one of my goals early on was to capture images of any type of bird of prey; whether it be an owl, hawk, falcon, etc.

As fast I could I dried off, went inside and grabbed my camera bag and quickly (but carefully mounted my telephoto lens onto my camera. Right as I got ready to shoot I saw the kite diving towards a tree and shot some pictures of it diving. Once it was in the tree I put my camera on continuous and kept shooting. Out of nowhere a second Mississippi Kite flew up and chased off the first out of the tree and took its place. After look back at the photos I felt giddy and accomplished, I had finally got the type of images I have been pining after, and WOW, what a rush.
